Philanthropy

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has been Phi Mu’s national philanthropic partner since 1986. “To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand.” The first line of Phi Mu’s Creed has been a call to serve others since it was written more than 100 years ago. From our earliest days of supporting a health mobile that delivered health care to women and children in rural areas to supporting toy carts for children in hospitals to our current partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Phi Mu has long been committed to lending a helping hand to those in need.

We are proud to be the only sorority to partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and have an alliance with the National Women’s History Museum. We were also the first sorority to establish a National Philanthropy Day more than 20 years ago. Lending a helping hand is at the heart of who we are as Phi Mus.

Alpha Sigma's Philanthropy

Phi Mu-Alpha Sigma donates to and supports two local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals; St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana and St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. Our signature philanthropy events include our Big Man on Campus Pageant in the Spring and Kickin’ and Kookin’ in the Fall. Big Man on Campus is a male pageant where men from different campus organizations compete to be crowned Phi Mu’s next Big Man. The pageant caps off a week of multiple fundraising events and serves as our biggest fundraising event of the year. In 2025, we raised a total of $32,000 for our two local CMN Hospitals! Kickin’ and Kookin’ is a family favorite that involves a kickball tournament and a jambalaya cook off. Although it is a smaller event compared to our Big Man Week, many of our family and friends come together to support Phi Mu-Alpha Sigma and CMN Hospitals. Here at Phi Mu we take pride in lending to those less fortunate a helping hand, and we are so grateful to support such an amazing organization. We believe in miracles!
